Chicago nonprofit organizations strive to help people and animals in need in the surrounding area.
These Chicago nonprofits do everything from offering a place to stay to raising awareness for epilepsy. If you would like to offer support, here are a few organizations near our Chicago apartments:
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicago & Northwest Indiana
The Ronald McDonald House helps parents stay close to their hospitalized children. Every night, it provides private rooms to 162 families. Each family stays an average of eight nights, and also enjoys fun activities and delicious meals. The Ronald McDonald House accepts online donations of any amount, which are used to provide overnight accommodations.
Red Door Animal Shelter
Red Door is a no-kill shelter for dogs, cats, and rabbits. At times, it also finds a stray duck or backyard chicken. Red Door’s rescue animals live in a cageless environment and receive a microchip and medical care before finding their forever homes. To help, consider shopping from Red Door’s Amazon Wish List. Your purchase will ship to the shelter, and requested items include kitten chow, litter pans, cleaning supplies, and more.
Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago
Established in 1946, the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago provides education and case management to people living with epilepsy and their families. Serving 44 counties, the Epilepsy Foundation also leads the fight to find a cure and advance therapies to stop seizures and save lives. Monetary donations help the foundation offer free services and programs to patients throughout the year. You can also help by donating gently used clothing and household items. Schedule a free at-home pick up or drop the goods at an attended donation site.
After helping a nonprofit organization, support one of Chicago’s best Italian restaurants by ordering spaghetti or another delicious dish for takeout.
