If you love your cuisine with a side of stunning interiors, step inside one of these restaurants in Chicago that boast beautiful designs as well as delicious plates.
Offering a modern spin on classic Indian dishes, Superkhana International celebrates the chefs’ mutual passion for the Indian kitchen and local food. They began cooking together in 2014, and are always experimenting with new recipes. The restaurant’s vibrant design pays homage to Bollywood. Pops of neon light up the walls, while colorful fabrics adorn the windows. The menu changes weekly and features an array of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Customer favorites include the chana chaat, coconut beef brisket, and butter chicken supreme.
More of a cocktail bar than a restaurant, Kumiko boasts a space blending ancient and modern aesthetics. The elegant Japanese-inspired style comes complete with dark wood floors, textural bowls, and simple vases. In the kitchen, Executive Chef Noah Sandoval prepares both small bites and enticing entrees. Offerings include sashimi, tempura prawns, and oysters with smoked roe. They’re best enjoyed with cocktails such as Walk Softly and Sunshine Follows.
Step into Galit to find a Middle Eastern restaurant owned by James Beard Award-winning Chef Zachary Engel. The eatery debuted in April 2019, and exposed brick lends an industrial feel. Shades of blue run throughout, from teal tiles to deep blue room dividers. Visitors enjoy a look into the kitchen and watch as the chefs bake the fluffy pitas in the hearth. Menu offerings include Balkan stuffed cabbage, Tunisian-style fried fish, and lamb chops.
