Did you know that the first chocolate drink was created by the Mayan people around two thousand years ago? Since that time, hot chocolate has become one of the most popular winter beverages.
Here are three places where you can enjoy a delicious cup of hot chocolate in Chicago:
Established by Mindy Segal in 2005, Hot Chocolate features an artistic atmosphere in the Wicker Park neighborhood. It comes complete with brick walls, chalkboard menus, and twinkling lights, and guests always receive friendly service. Mindy was once named “Outstanding Pastry Chef” by the James Beard Foundation, and she has appeared on both The Today Show and the Food Network. Her menu offers several hot chocolate options, and all are served with a house-made marshmallow. Popular choices include dark oat milk and pumpkin spice.
Cocoa & Co.
Cocoa & Co. was born out of Kim Hack’s life-long obsession with all things chocolate. Her mission is to curate a journey of chocolate discovery that is nuanced and infinitely delicious. She offers chocolates and pastries from artisans across the globe. The cafe is a fun place to meet friends, and the dining area features picture windows and colorful works of art. Try a cup of spicy hot chocolate with a salted caramel brownie.
Known as a “Sweet Treat on Green Street,” BomboBar is where Executive Chef Fabio Viviani serves his famous hole-less donuts known as Bombolini. During the winter months, the cafe offers a heated and enclosed awning equipped with bar seating where visitors can warm up seven days a week. Hot chocolate choices include smores and Party Monster.
