Have Socially-Distanced Fun at These Chicago Parks

Downtown Chicago view from bridge in park

Chicago offers many opportunities to get outside and enjoy the parks and green spaces scattered throughout the city. Our Chicago apartments are in the perfect location to enjoy the best Chicago parks. Here are a few to consider!

Millennium Park

One of the largest parks in the city is just two miles away from Catalyst Apartments. Millennium Park is the home of the Cloud Gate statue, also known as “The Bean”. This hugely popular site is an anchor for the park and reflects the beautiful Chicago skyline. Crown Fountain is another can’t-miss experience. It consists of a pair of 50-foot towers made of glass brick that display videos of Chicago faces, with a reflecting pool of black granite at the foot of the towers. You should also make sure to check out Lurie Garden, which boasts a beautiful selection of native plants that attract a diverse bird population and wildlife. Millennium Park is a lovely open-air locale perfect for social distancing.

Union Park

Just over a mile from our Chicago apartments lies Union Park. A part of Chicago’s history, the park offers just under 14 acres of open space. The city created Union Park in 1853 after residents of a local subdivision asked developers to create a park. In the early days of the park, it was a fashionable locale within the city. Later, the park became a uniquely racially-integrated space in the 1910s and a venue for cultural and social events into the 1950s. It features a field house as well as a fitness center and gym area. Outdoor spaces include tennis courts, athletic fields, baseball fields, and basketball courts.

Humboldt Park

Less than 5 miles away from Catalyst, Humboldt Park offers excellent water views from the pavilion and several statues throughout the masterfully landscaped open space. The field house’s architecture is worth checking out as well. The park is one of Chicago’s 77 designated community areas and is the centerpiece of the Humboldt Park community, a diverse and thriving neighborhood in the city. The 207-acre park offers lots of walking trails, fishing spots, and benches scattered throughout to stop and rest.
