Chicago Cultural Center
Located in the Loop, the Chicago Cultural Center is not only a city landmark building, but it is also a great place to explore for rotating art exhibits. One of the newest exhibits is On War & Survival: National Veterans Art Museum Triennial. Available through the end of July, this powerful showcase depicts works influenced by World War I up until the current time. Curated by a group of veterans of the Iraq War, this moving exhibit is not to be missed.
Art Institute of Chicago
Also found in the Loop, the Art Institute of Chicago is a world-renowned museum with an extensive permanent collection as well as numerous rotating exhibits. One of the most anticipated is the upcoming Manet and Modern Beauty. This will be the first Édouard Manet exhibition at the Art Institute in more than 50 years. Available through September, this collection will not only include paintings but also letters handwritten by the artist.
Museum of Contemporary Art
Always at the forefront of the best in modern art, the Museum of Contemporary Art celebrates innovation and creativity at its downtown location. On display through the end of September, Virgil Abloh: Figures of Speech is a high-concept exhibit from this rising designer and artist. Using a variety of mediums, this show incorporates visual art, music, and fashion design.
