Albany Park is one of Chicago’s most ethnically diverse neighborhoods, and since 1970, it has been a point of entry for immigrants from Asia and Latin America.
You’ll find an array of multicultural restaurants in Albany Park. Those you really can’t miss include:
Noon-O-Kabab began with a dream to bring authentic Persian cuisine to Chicagoland. With just eleven tables, the restaurant started from humble beginnings and has since tripled in size. The cozy dining room features Persian tiles and soft music playing in the background, and it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely meal.
In the kitchen, the chefs prepare treasured family recipes, and many of the spices come from Iran. Favorites include lamb shank, pomegranate shrimp, and loobia polo.
Ay Ay Picante
At Ay Ay Picante, diners enjoy authentic Peruvian cuisine made from high-quality ingredients. The chefs are known for their unique style of cooking, and the meals are both exciting and comforting at once. The restaurant is known for serving some of the best Latin American food in Chicago.
Visitors appreciate the service, large portions, and the setting featuring colorful pre-Columbian murals. Ay Ay Picante serves the largest selection of Peruvian dishes in the Midwest, and choices include lomo saltado, salmon limeno, and seco de carne.
The Ixcateco Grill is a BYOB restaurant that serves southern Mexican cuisine. When possible, Chef Anselmo Ramirez uses locally sourced ingredients, and the menu reflects his experience working with famed chefs such as Rick Bayless and Sarah Stegner. Chef Ramirez immigrated to the United States at the age of twelve, and he’s been passionate about good food since he was a young boy. Menu offerings include carne asada, salmon en crema, and enchiladas vegetarianas.
