Go To A Reading At The Chicago Public Library

One of the many benefits of living in a city like Chicago is access to cultural events like those offered at the Chicago Public Library. Each month, several authors and poets visit the library to discuss their life and works. It’s a great way to meet the creator of your favorite books and get an inside look at the creative process near Catalyst apartments. Here are just a few of the exciting author events coming up!

Author and scholar, Charles Johnson will visit the library on November 3rd to discuss his essays, novels, and short stories. His work, Middle Passage, will open as a stage production and attendants will have the chance to ask questions, as well as learn more about his background and creative life.

On November 7th, library patrons can enjoy a poetry reading and discussion with Juanita Hill. She will read excerpts from her latest collection of poetry, From Darkness To Light, then discuss her creative motivation and inspiration when writing the poems.

The “L” has run its route 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the past 124 years. On November 7th, join author Greg Borzo as he discusses his book, The Chicago L. In addition to learning about his motivation in writing the book and research methods, you’ll learn all about this iconic train line, its growth, and development.

On November 14th, not only can you attend a book discussion, but a cooking presentation as well. Join author and food blogger Emily Paster as she discusses and demonstrates ways to preserve your garden harvest or even just your favorite seasonal produce.
