Millions of people tune in and wish they could taste the delicious dishes featured on “Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives,” “Man vs. Food,” and other food-themed shows. Chicago is a fantastic place to call home, and one of the perks of living at Catalyst Apartments is the proximity to a handful of amazing restaurants. Go ahead and start checking off that Food Network foodie bucket list!
A ten-minute walk will take you to Kuma’s Corner. Guy Fieri visited this joint on “Diners, Dive-ins and Dives”. It originally debuted as a corner bar, but has made a name for itself as the place to get a burger. The burgers are named after metal bands, giving you choices that range from Metallica to Iron Maiden to Pantera. If you’re looking to go “bunless”, try the Slayer – Guy loved it. Also, you can’t go wrong by creating your own mac and cheese.
BIG & little’s
BIG & little’s has also been featured on triple D. You can’t help but fall in love with a restaurant started by two chefs who used their life savings to pursue gourmet fast food. Burgers, tacos, fish and chips, salads…this place has it all. What does Guy recommend? The fried pork belly po’ boy with maple mayo. Luckily, the River North and Wicker Park locations are each a 10 minute drive from Catalyst Apartments. However, Wicker Park serves breakfast all day while River North is only open for lunch and dinner.
Lucky’s Sandwich Company
Lucky’s Sandwich Company was featured on the first season of “Man vs. Food.” If you’re up to the challenge, you’ll pick three sandwiches to finish in an hour. Choose from roast beef, capicola, Cajun chicken, salami pastrami, smoked turkey, or the Fredo (ham, salami, capicoli and Swiss). If you can devour every bite the sandwiches are free! Plus, you’ll get a T-shirt and your photo on the wall of fame. Sweet.
In addition to these restaurants, you’ll find bakers and chefs who have competed and even won shows such as “Chopped,” “Cupcake Wars,” and other Food Network hits. These talented chefs bring delicious dishes and desserts to Chicagoans every day.
The kitchen in your luxury apartment home is amazing, but when you don’t have the energy to cook, you’re close to every type of restaurant you could ever crave. It’s all about balance, so if you’re looking for a home in the best neighborhood in Chicago, contact us.
